Is the tail wagging the dog?

Innovations in the world of electronics now come from the consumer side and “trickle up” into professional applications. Super-sized flat screen TVs, HDMI, tablet computers, LED backlights, wireless connectivity, Skype, gesture and voice recognition, video streaming, and palm-sized video projectors are just a few examples.

But there is a tectonic shift happening in the world of consumer electronics, where TVs no longer rule the roost. Some Japanese manufacturers are going bankrupt and the two most powerful CE brands are now located in Seoul, Korea and Cupertino, California.

Pete Putman’s fast-paced and offbeat presentation will cover some of the significant trends in pro and consumer electronics from 2012, highlighting both truly brilliant and incredibly dumb products from the Consumer Electronics Show, the NAB show, and InfoComm 2012.

Comcast Spotlight tours may be available after the presentation.

ISE 2013 Class: Wireless AV

Is it really possible to cut the cord, and make all AV connections wireless? Not yet, but we’re closer than you might think. As the wireless AV future aproaches, keep sharpening your skills in signal distribution. In this seminar, you will examine the technical requirements and challenges of wireless audio, video and data transmission, including minimum bit rates, compression formats, spectrum requirements and new, proprietary wireless protocols such as WHDI and WiHD.
